Bearfoot is a Fargo, North Dakota brand that started out making a zero-drop, wide toe box shoe for lifting, the Ursus, and now makes everyday and training shoes and boots too. I like that they also do kids' and toddler shoes, plus socks and a few foot-care bits. Most of the range is unisex, and the Bruin work boot is described as American-made.

I'd go true to size, as one reviewer found the Ursus runs true and the suede relaxes after a few wears. It's built on an EEE last, so it suits wide feet best, and I'd only go up half a size for thick socks.
