Altra is an American brand, founded in Utah in 2009 and now owned by VF Corporation. They make running, trail, hiking and everyday shoes for women and men, all with their roomy FootShape toe box. Most of the range is zero drop, with a few newer low drop (4mm) models, and the shoes are more cushioned than a typical barefoot shoe.

How Altra fits

I'd stay true to size, as Altra says its shoes run true and reviewers agree, and expect a roomy toe area with a closer hold through the midfoot, heel and ankle. If your foot fills the insole edge to edge, look at the wide versions on models that offer them, and if you have a narrow heel, expect to use the lacing to snug things up.
